Native Grasses
Complete list of native grasses of OklahomaIn addition to good old Bermuda (several varieties) we have native grasses and what you'd normally think of as weeds like crabgrass. In fact we plant Red River Crab Grass (recommended by the Samuel Noble Foundation). We don't however, let the grass grown unmanaged (see "Healthy Pastures"); otherwise unedible weeds, red cedars and other brushy trees would take over. So after Spring "springs" and the cows & horses eat all the "good weeds" we mow and spot spray where tough perennial weeds aren't phased by mowing. Generally anything that makes a pretty flower is not good to eat!.
